A team builder and a proven partner to the Racquet Club Department.  An individual with great interpersonal skills, stamina, sensitivity high moral standards and overall multi-tasking ability to assist the Racquet Club Director in all facets of the director's responsibilities.   The Racquet Club Head Professional will be present and available to members not only when the director is available but also and especially when the Director is not available.  The Racquet Club Head Professional will use discretion and sound independent judgment to balance private court time lessons with administrative and event driven demands.

Duties and Responsibilities:


  • Responsible for assisting the Racquet Club Director with tennis and pickleball activity programming, including developing and promoting programs for all age groups, while providing exceptional member services.
  • Assist to formulate short-term and long-term goals for the tennis and pickleball programs as well as a strategic plan to reach established goals.
  • Assist marketing events, tournaments, and clinics through all means of communications available.  This includes but not limited to Fisher Island Club fliers, emails, website calendar, white board outside of the pro shop and direct personal phone calls if necessary.
  • Inspect the courts and facility prior to start of play and ascertain that all necessary maintenance has been performed to provide a safe environment for all users.
  • Ensure all teaching items (i.e. balls, hoppers, etc.) are properly stored and maintained.
  • Assist organizing clinics and private lessons that encourage participation in the Club's tennis and pickleball activities.
  • Supervises all tennis play and proper charging of fees, rental of equipment and court reservations.
  • Organizes and assist director on competition and tournaments.
  • Monitors and maximize court usage including special events, clinics, lessons, and play.
  • Devote a reasonable number of hours to playing with members regardless of their experience; such play is not to be considered a playing lesson.
  • Enforces all club rules and regulations governing the use of the club/facility, its equipment and other property.
  • Validating membership and provide appropriate discounts and court access as determined by membership level.
  • Works cooperatively with other departments to develop combined programs for the membership.
  • Informs the Racquet Club Director of any problems or issues relating to members, guests, or other general tennis department related matters.
  • Assist maintenance staff on facility and court maintenance as needed.
  • Assist pro-shop personnel as needed by serving the membership on sales, game arrangements, court reservations, and racquet stringing.
  • Assist co-workers, Members, and guests to ensure the delivery of iconic and exclusive services without being directed.
  • Maintain a positive and productive culture in the workplace.
  • Exercise discretion and independent judgment in the completion of job duties related to matters of significance.
  • Acts as the Club's Ambassador to enhance the value of the Club.


Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in business administration, hospitality, or a related field preferred and/or applicable experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years as a Head Professional.
  • USPTA and/or USPTR professional certification required.
  • Pickleball Professional Certification required or acquired within 6 months of hiring.
  • Experience in a service-related field, preferably at exclusive private country club environment/and or resort.
  • Knowledge of tennis and pickleball program, activities, educational and recreational events.
  • Experience using analytics to interpret outcomes, identify opportunities and drive tennis membership decisions.
  • Database experience, ideally with Microsoft Office, Agilisys, Birch street and Club Essentials Software.
  • A charismatic, energetic, forward-thinking, and creative individual with high ethical standards and an appropriate professional image. Is discreet and conducts themselves with a high degree of professionalism.
  • An intelligent and articulate individual who can relate to people at all levels of an organization and possesses excellent written and oral communication skills. Must be able to communicate policies, procedures, regulations, reports to staff, members, and guests.
  • Ability to use effective problem-solving skills, and make independent decisions when circumstances warrant, exhibits sound and accurate judgment and makes timely decisions.
  • Provides exceptional member service and uses prompt and responsive follow-through. Asks questions to identify member needs and/or expectations. Ability to respond effectively to the most sensitive inquiries or complaints.
  • Able to work in a rapidly changing work environment. Must be able to adapt to changes, manage competing demands and is able to deal with frequent change, delays, or unexpected events.
  • Must be highly visible and have the ability maintain a flexible work schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays as dictated by the event schedule.
  • CPR/AED certification required within the first 30 days of hire.





  • Self-motivated, self-starter, able to share ideas, and implements plans without significant oversight after plans were discussed with Racquet Club director.
  • High level of playing skills are required with College, ATP or WTA playing experiences.
  • Proficient level of computer knowledge with a specific, basic knowledge of Microsoft Office.
  • Excellent communications skills and ability to speak and read English is required.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and to exercise initiative.

  • Ability to work with a wide variety of ages and demographic groups.

Other Requirements:


  • Attendance required at tennis staff meetings and club training.
  • Attendance on training/ workshops pertaining to racquet club management is required for professional development within the Fisher Island Club.
  • Represent the club/facility in professional tennis activities, including meetings of the national and/or local division of USPTA/PTR and in tournaments such as pro-am with members, as well as state or national  events as time will permit, but only with the approval of the Racquet Club Director and Racquet Club Committee.


Working Conditions:

  • Work is performed in an office environment and outdoor walking/standing for extended periods.
  • Ability to a flexible schedule to include, but not limited to nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and have ability to meet deadlines.
