Primary Responsibilities:
• Assesses daily bakery needs with Pastry Chef
• Prepares all cakes, cookies, pies, breads, pastries and other desserts according to recipes and presentation standards
• Produces high quality, elegant desserts dishes for events, restaurants, and the market
• Assists in creating and tasting new dessert options
• Assists the Pastry Chef with daily quality control checks.
• Reports all maintenance and/or repair needs to Pastry Chef
• Oversees pastry cart and buffet dessert table set-up and presentation.
• Keeps walk-in organized.
• Sets-up, maintains, cleans and breaks down pastry station.
• Notifies Pastry Chef in advance of expected product shortages.
• Properly stores all food, which must be covered, dated and rotated daily to ensure proper portion control and quality.
• Attends kitchen employee and staff meetings.
• Assists Pastry Chef in completion of other duties as assigned.


Position Requirements:
Must be able to use basic food preparation and baking equipment
• Ensures that work area is safe and secure.
• Adheres to state and local health and food safety regulations including food handling.
• Maintains high standards of quality for all food prepared and served with attention to detail.
• Candidates should have a degree in Pastry Arts and/or Baking, a minimum of 2 years of experience as a pastry and dessert cook in a luxury hotel, resort or restaurant setting, and have good self-discipline with an ability to complete tasks independently.
